Junior playground plans

BPS concept plan 2 - June 2015

Here is the first draft of the concept plan for the redevelopment of the junior playground and the land below.

To explain some of the features:

  • the fruit trees that will be planted in the orchard are a white mulberry, two (low-chill) apples, a loquat, a lemon and an orange.
  • the stone labyrinth will not be tall i.e. it will be easy to escape from when the bell goes
  • the tepee will be steel framed and planted out to make it permanently covered
  • the creek will be a dry creek bed but capable of having water flow down it from the existing tap in the junior playground to the new sandpit
  • the bush cubby will be a copse of trees grown in a circle to create a secluded space
  • the cubby making area will be similar to Rio Tinto Naturescape where there will be steel frames permanently erected that the students can then cover with branches to make their own cubbies.

More information on the other trees and plants that will be part of this redevelopment will be provided in the coming weeks.

  1. that looks amazing!

very excited to be sending our kids to a school that supports a nature based play space like this

glad to see the existing play structures will be retained as they are much loved – (particularly that rubber running thing as I’ve never seen that before and the kids love it)
